Bonthe Holiday Village also offers eco tourism, providing an opportunity to discover how the local economy works and to see what Sierra Leone is all about. The camp is a good base for exploring local flora and fauna and the history of the area.
It is also a good base for bird watching. Kingfishers abound nearby and all manner of tropical birds can be spotted as one goes inland up the river. It is also a haven for seabirds. A colony of pelicans is situated across the bay. Maribou storks nest on the local shores.
